Are you looking to meet new people who call Boston home? Did you recently move downtown or relocate to the city to be closer to friends and family?

Join us for a special Friday night shabbat experience in partnership with Temple Shir Tikva (TST) of Wayland.

We’ll begin with a Friday night service led by Rabbi Danny Burkeman and Cantor Hollis Schachner of Temple Shir Tikva followed by drinks and dinner. Afterward, we’ll enjoy an author talk with novelist David Abromowitz, author of The Foxtail Legacy

This is a special opportunity for adults on Beacon Hill and nearby neighborhoods to catch their breath after a busy week and connect with others in a warm and welcoming downtown location. No connection to TST required.

Booksales of The Foxtail Legacy available onsite & through Trident Booksellers.

Meet our Guests

Rabbi Danny

Rabbi Danny (he/him) is the Senior Rabbi at Temple Shir Tikva. In his own words he is committed “to making Judaism relevant in the modern world,” believing that it offers many answers to the major problems affecting society today. In his rabbinic work he has looked for ways to engage people with their Judaism in new and creative ways.

Cantor Hollis

Cantor Hollis Suzanne Schachner (she/her) has been delighted to serve on the clergy team of Temple Shir Tikva since July 2001. She believes in the power of music to bring people together in prayer, friendship, and across differences, and sees her leadership role as  empowering the congregation to find and use its own voice. She is passionate about learning and teaching Torah and is a dedicated pastoral counselor. Cantor Hollis is especially excited about enabling our community to explore new pathways to deeper connections through meditation, Mussar, Jewish yoga, and the contemplative offerings of the TST Center for Jewish Spirituality.

David Abramowitz

David Abromowitz is an advocate, policy shaper, believer in opportunity youth, affordable housing attorney and writer.  Most recently, David founded the New Power Project, a national effort to support people who have grown up experiencing poverty in running for local elective office. A frequent author of op-eds and policy papers during his career as an attorney at Goulston & Storrs, as the Chief Public Policy Officer of YouthBuild USA and as a Senior Fellow at the Center for America Progress, David’s writings have appeared in the Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, Baltimore Sun, USA Today, Huffington Post and many other publications.

David is a proud New Jersey native now living in the Boston area. The Foxtail Legacy is his first novel.
