Event Description:
Join Havurah on the Hill for a lay-led, non-denominational Kabbalat Shabbat service in Vilna Shul’s historic sanctuary. After the service we will hear from guest speaker Jessica Kate Meyer. Jessica is a rabbinical (and sometimes cantorial) student at Hebrew College. Outside of school, she performs as the vocalist with Hankus Netsky’s Klezmer and Beyond, and as storyteller/vocalist/fiddler/harmonium player with the band Shvesterl. She leads family education programs and children’s services at Temple Beth Zion in Brookline, and serves as the Jewish music specialist for Temple Ahavat Achim in Gloucester.
In her previous life she was a film and theater actress. After graduate theater training in London, she appeared in many film and television projects in Europe and the United States: most notably, in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist. Jessica received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College.. After the speaker please stay for a kosher buffet style dinner.
