The course covers the history of Zionism and Israel from the emergence of modern Zionism in 1882 until 1948. Topics include the origins and different visions of Zionism, Jewish immigration, the growth of Arab nationalism, the period of the British Mandate for Palestine, the civil war, the War of Independence, the founding of the State of Israel, the Palestinian refugees, and the Altalena Affair.

Although the course is meant to be a unified experience, each session is "free standing" so missing one or two is OK.
